codoc is a service that allows you to monetize your articles by simply pasting a tag into your blog, enabling you to sell individual articles or offer subscriptions.
By adding codoc tags to your website, which runs on WordPress or other blog services, you can quickly introduce article distribution and a billing mechanism called a paywall.
A paywall is a system that monetizes content, displaying it to users who have paid for it. With a simple paywall that easily matches your site, your audience can enjoy subscriptions without being bothered by authentication, membership registration, or card payment procedures.
In addition to individual article sales, codoc also supports subscription sales. By managing your content with codoc's subscription system, you can easily build a membership site.
After posting an article, simply paste the issued tag onto your site. First, you post the article on codoc. Article registration is done in the same way as a general blog system, but at that time, you also set the price and paid sections. Once the article post is complete, you can obtain a tag to paste, and by pasting that tag onto your site, the article you wrote on codoc will be displayed on your site with a paywall. codoc provides a plugin for WordPress to eliminate the hassle of pasting. Using this plugin makes it even easier to publish articles.
codoc does not charge any listing fees, annual fees, or registration fees. There are no monthly usage fees for the system used by content distributors (creators).
When an audience member purchases an article or subscribes to a subscription, a transaction fee is incurred from the sales. The fee is 10% of the sales, and the creators will receive the revenue after the fee is deducted from the sales.
Once sales revenue is generated, you can request a bank transfer after registering your bank account details on codoc. After the transfer request, you can expect the deposit within 4 to 30 business days.
You can request a transfer when your sales revenue reaches 10 USD/EUR or more. The transfer fee is 3 USD/EUR per transfer request. The transfer fee, along with the transaction fee, will be deducted from the sales amount before the transfer is made.
You can get it from the "<>" mark on the article list page. There are two types of tags available: JS+element and element.
For those using blogs that allow free HTML customization, such as FC2 Blog, Hatena Blog, and Seesaa Blog:
Write the javascript tag* in the header, and when posting an article, paste only the element. Please use the HTML editing function in the editor of each blog service to paste the tag. (Paste in the same way as affiliate tags)
<script src="https://codoc.jp/js/paywall.js" defer></script>
For those using Livedoor Blog:
Paste JS+element from the HTML tag editing screen in the article posting screen.
For those using blogs where Javascript pasting is disabled, such as Ameba Blog:
Currently not supported.
For those using WordPress:
By installing the plugin, you can skip the pasting process (once configured, articles will be automatically loaded and pasted). If you are using widgets, paste only the element.
When limited sale is specified, the number of available sales decreases by one with each purchase. The number of available sales will not decrease with the purchase of a subscription that includes the article. Please note that if you change the number of sales or the price, the number will be reset.
Articles that have been purchased by an audience cannot be deleted. If you wish to stop publishing, please use the unpublish option on the article editing screen.
The tag can be pasted on pages other than blogs, as long as Javascript is enabled. It can also be pasted in multiple locations.
Although not required, it is recommended to enter it. Please specify the permalink of the article where the tag was pasted. Entering it will be used on the following pages:
Email sent to subscription purchasers when an article is updated.
This will be the link to the updated article.
Audience purchase page and purchase completion email.
This will be the link to the listed article.
Linked from the codoc site.
http://codoc.jp/sites/your_display_ID/
This will be the link to the articles listed above.
Also used for future feature additions.
You can create a free article by writing the entire article body in the free section and leaving the price unspecified.
We provide a support widget for this purpose. Alternatively, you can create an article with an empty body and unspecified price, and then paste the tag for that article to display only a support button on your blog. The widget tag, or the tag for a previously created support feature article, can be pasted on multiple pages, not just one.
By enabling notifications, you can send email updates to subscribers. Please enable notifications and update your article whenever you wish to send an update. Please note that enabling notifications will send an update to all subscribers.
While you cannot preview in the strict sense until you paste the tag, you can check how the article appears using the following method:
From the pasted site, click "Already purchased? Log in here" and log in with your account to view the purchased article.
As of April 22, 2020, the specification has been changed to allow script tags for external JavaScript loading. Within the codoc site, only JavaScript from some sites (Twitter/Instagram) is allowed to operate for security reasons.
The paid and free parts each have a limit of 1 million characters (approx. 1MB) including HTML, for a total of 1.5 million characters. Please note that applying text formatting will increase the actual character count.
Authentication can be carried over to content outside the paywall. Authentication methods and supported content/services will be added sequentially.
Content protection using paywall authentication can be applied to the entire page or specific sections. Paste the Embedded Content (HTML) tag within the HTML you want to authenticate.
If "Modal" is specified as the authentication method, the entire page will be blacked out, and the paywall will be displayed in a modal window.
codoc-element-stay
class will be excluded from blacking out.If "Redirect" is selected as the authentication method, the user will be automatically redirected to the URL specified in data-auth-redirect-url
.
data-auth-redirect-url
attribute of the pasted tag, please specify the URL of the page where the codoc tag is placed. If not specified, a page within the codoc site will be used.Upon successful authentication, the HTML file specified as "URL" or the HTML element specified as "HTML" will replace the position of the pasted tag. For "URL", please specify a relative path or a URL to the HTML file.
This allows codoc content purchasers to access password-protected Matterport spaces without entering a password. Please specify the password set in Matterport when registering the embedded content. When using this embedded content, the sales commission for the relevant article and associated subscriptions will increase by 2%. Please be aware of this.
Registered subscriptions can be selected on the article posting/editing screen. To subscribe to the paid part of an article, the audience will either purchase it individually or purchase a subscription associated with the article. A subscription can be associated with multiple articles. This allows the audience to read all associated articles by purchasing one subscription.

A maximum of 100 subscriptions can be registered per account. A maximum of 5 subscriptions can be linked per article. There is no limit to the number of articles that can be linked to a subscription.
Audience members who purchased that subscription will no longer be able to view articles from which that subscription has been removed.
Subscriptions that have been purchased by an audience member at least once cannot be deleted. If you wish to stop publishing them on the site, please use the unpublish option on the article editing screen.
If you change the period or price for a subscription that has existing purchasers, the changes will be reflected for purchases made after the change.
If you wish to apply price changes to existing purchasers, approval from the management is required. Please refer to the following flow:
Creators can create an affiliate program for the articles and subscriptions they sell. Affiliate users can be either users who have purchased articles/subscriptions, or users specified by the creator. Users create an affiliate for each product, or receive a partnership from the creator, and then acquire an affiliate link. If a product is purchased via an affiliate link, the affiliate user can receive a commission based on the rate specified by the creator relative to the sales price.

This function provides an optimized administration screen and content management method for content providers/creators using codoc and content purchasers. This function is only available when a codoc pro contract is in place. If a creator enables this, only that creator's products will be displayed on the purchaser's management screen for purchase/subscription, and the logo used on the management screen and purchase email can be changed to the creator's logo. Also, if you use the codoc login/purchase/subscription screen widget within the creator's site, you need to enable this function.
You can switch the admin screen when the codoc pro extension is in use and content providers/creators have been confirmed for use.
This will be an administration screen dedicated to that content provider/creator. Only the purchase history and subscribed subscriptions of that service/creator will be displayed.
From the menu, tap the "Use in Admin Screen" button for "codoc" at the top of "Switch Admin Screen".
If you are using a dedicated administration screen for a content provider/creator, content purchased from services other than that service will not be displayed as purchased content. To display all purchased content, please revert the administration screen to standard.
Dedicated administration screens and login functions for content providers/creators will become unavailable, and various user information and API execution permissions provided through user confirmation will no longer be disclosed to service providers/creators.
However, content already purchased can still be viewed.
