PAYWALL

codoc Paywall

Lock the rest of an article behind a paywall. Readers buy on the spot and keep reading without ever leaving the page. Just paste a tag, and your usual site becomes a sales page.

HOW IT WORKS

How the Paywall Works

When you register content on codoc, a dedicated article tag is issued. Just paste this tag into your site (or set up the plugin on WordPress), and everything past the point you specify is protected as paid content.

The paid content is never included in your site's HTML; it is stored and delivered from codoc's servers. The paid content is shown via JavaScript only to readers who have completed Payment or login verification.Because the data simply isn't there in the page source, users who haven't purchased can never see the paid content.

AUTHENTICATION

Other Authentication Methods

Beyond the standard per-article Paywall, you can also protect an entire page or specific URLs while carrying over authentication. This is ideal when you don't want to affect your site's layout or JavaScript behavior, or when you want to keep your content data on your own site.*This is a codoc pro extension, so it requires a codoc pro registration to use.

Covering the Entire Page
Covering the Entire Page
When an unauthenticated user visits, the entire page is covered by the Paywall.Perfect for content where you want page-level access control, such as members-only pages, paid reports, and online learning materials.

Redirect
Unauthenticated users are automatically redirected to a URL you specify in advance. For example, you can guide readers who haven't purchased to an introduction or sales page, while only those who have purchased can view the main content.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What kinds of sites can I use it on?
If you can edit your site's HTML, you can use it simply by pasting a tag. We offer a dedicated plugin for WordPress, and it also works with blog services that allow you to paste tags, such as Hatena Blog.
How much does it cost?
There are no setup or monthly fees. When your content sells, we take a 15% Sales Fee on the sale price. If you have no sales, there is no cost (a Payout fee of ¥300 applies per Payout of your earnings).
How long does it take to start selling?
You can start selling within 5 minutes after registering and uploading content. A test environment is also available for trial purposes.
*To use the test environment, a codoc pro subscription is required.
How do I split the free and paid sections?
Where the paid section begins is determined by where you place the tag (or the codoc block on WordPress). Everything above is published for free, and everything below becomes paid content that only readers who purchase can read.
Can I combine Monthly subscriptions with Individual Sales?
Yes. You can freely combine Reader Plans (Free version: Monthly/Annual; paid version: daily/weekly/monthly/annual), Individual Sale, and the Tip feature.
How do I receive my earnings?
Register your bank details in the Dashboard and request a Payout from the Payout screen, and we'll transfer the funds to your account. You can request a Payout once your available balance reaches ¥1,000.
Where is purchaser personal information stored?
Card and address information obtained via extensions is stored by Stripe, our payment service provider.
We manage user codes, email addresses, and nicknames.
Can I customize the Paywall design?
Choose from 12 theme variations across 6 colors to match your site's look, or customize with CSS. With codoc pro, we can also handle design adjustments tailored to your site (¥9,800 per request).
Will the paid portion of the article be recognized by Google?
Free portions are crawled and indexed as usual. Paid portions aren't included in the page HTML, so they're generally not indexed by search engines. Please note that this cannot be guaranteed due to the nature of crawler behavior.
