SOLUTION

New Revenue Streams Beyond Ad Revenue

For Publishers facing declining ad revenue, codoc brings reader-funded revenue models, such as Individual Sales, Reader Plans, and Tips, to your media as it is. Here are answers to the questions and requests we hear most often, from launch through operation.

We want recurring subscription revenue
Monthly and Annual Reader Plans create steady cash flow that doesn't swing like ad revenue. You can combine them with Individual Sales and Tips, so you capture everyone from casual to core readers.
We want a payment flow readers won't drop out of
Sending readers to an external site mid-payment or asking for complicated steps makes many of them drop out. With codoc, everything from payment to reading the content stays within your media's page, keeping checkout drop-off to a minimum.
We want to start with minimal cost
No setup costs and no monthly fee. You only pay a 15% fee per sale (payment processing included), so you pay nothing until you make a sale. When you need more advanced features, you can add codoc pro (9,800 yen/month).
No development resources to spare
Just paste a tag into your existing media to get started, with no system development required. If you don't need additional customization, you can start selling within a day of signing up.
I want to know the timeline for getting started
If you only need to place the tag, you can start selling the same day you create your account. For design customization or setup assistance, plan on roughly one to two weeks. Start with a free consultation (inquiry, then email reply and online meeting) where we'll review your requirements and propose the best approach.
I'm concerned about payments and personal data
Payments are handled by the online payment service Stripe, which stores card and other payment details on its side. codoc only manages user codes, email addresses, and nicknames, so your media never has to handle payment information.
No staff to spare for operations
codoc handles purchaser inquiries about how to buy, payments, and subscription renewals or cancellations. You can check your sales anytime in the Dashboard, with CSV export available. Your editorial team can stay focused on creating content, just as before.
I want to start by testing just a few articles
You can paywall content on a per-article basis, making it easy to start small. Beyond the free trial feature for Reader Plans, we also offer a test environment (codoc pro) so you can validate everything before going live.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use it with my own custom CMS?
If you can edit your site's HTML, you can use it simply by pasting a tag. We offer a dedicated plugin for WordPress, and with the codoc pro API you can build deeper integrations with your own CMS.
What APIs are available?
We provide a REST API for managing articles and Reader Plans. Using the API requires a codoc pro contract, and we provide the documentation once you sign up.
Can I customize the design?
In addition to the 12 color designs codoc offers, you can customize with CSS. With a codoc pro contract, we can also design the Paywall and the Purchaser Dashboard to match your site (¥9,800/time).
Can I integrate with an existing membership system?
Yes, you can use them together. If UI adjustments are needed, we can propose approaches tailored to your media setup, such as integrating with your existing membership system via private accounts or the API, or granting viewing access to existing members.
Can I manage multiple media under one account?
We recommend one account per site, so please create a separate account for each media property. Each account requires a different email address.
How do I receive my earnings?
Register your bank details in the Dashboard and request a Payout from the Payout screen, and we'll transfer the funds to your account. You can request a Payout once your available balance reaches ¥1,000.
Can I export sales data?
You can export CSV files from the Sales screen in the Dashboard. It also supports charts for custom date ranges, making it useful for accounting and reporting.
Can I use codoc internationally?
codoc is available in several countries (the US and Europe). To start selling content there, you'll need an overseas bank account, ID, and similar documents. Please contact us for details.
How long does it take to start selling?
You can start selling within 5 minutes after registering and uploading content. A test environment is also available for trial purposes.
